A Message From The East

Brethren,

It looks like spring has finally sprung! With the long winter behind us, there are many outside chores that we need to turn our attention to. I ask that each of you reach out to the elderly brothers to see if they need assistance with chores around their houses. Remember sometimes it’s tough for people to ask for help. We recently started a food drive for the food pantry in town; remember for every five cans of food we donate it will feed a hungry family for a day. In June there will be a Gold Collar Degree in our Lodge and I encourage everyone to come out, since it is an immense honor for our Lodge. Be safe and enjoy the weather!

Hello Brethren,

I recently read an article called “The Honeymoon is Over”, which was about what Masters of the Lodge go through when they are done with their duties. This made me think about our new brothers and their own honeymoon phase: initiation, passing and raising. Although it’s a great thing, having so many brothers petitioning the Lodge, it’s also important to retain these brothers. We are currently lowering the Lodge after business so they can enjoy fellowship and be involved with any programs that we are offering. I challenge any brother to break out of your comfort zone and enjoy dinner and conversation with new brothers. The more welcome they feel, the more likely they are to come out to meetings and events. It’s not about the number of members; it’s about the number of brothers who come out and enjoy fellowship.

In March, we ran our annual St. Patrick’s Day event and it was a huge success! I would like to thank all the brothers who helped and all who attended the event. Our window fundraiser is going well with only five more windows to sell! The front windows will be installed this summer. I hope to see you all at Craftsmen’s Club and regular meetings.

Fraternally Yours,

Jeffrey Rawley, Worshipful Master

Brother Howland Receives His 50 Year Pin

On March 23rd Bro. Ralph Howland received his 50 year pin. We were joined by brothers from his home lodge, Tompkins #471, in Staten Island. They presented Bro. Howland with his pin, a 50 year apron and declaration of achievement from the Grand Lodge of NY. Congratulations to Brother Howland on this great accomplishment.

Brethren,

With two months behind us, we still have much work to be completed. In February, we had an entered apprentice degree, and in March we are going to have another entered apprentice degree… In my previous message, I mentioned helping people in need. With that in mind, a fellow brother has helped me to develop a canned food drive for the local food pantry. Remember, just because someone may need help, doesn’t mean they deserve any less help than a fellow brother. Also, we will be lowering the Lodge to the entered apprentice degree so that candidates that are waiting for the fellowcraft and master mason degrees can
come to the Lodge to enjoy fellowship. I hope to see you all for a great time at the St. Patty’s Day event. Once again, thank you for your support.

Jeffrey Rawley, Worshipful Master

Brethren,

With one month almost behind us, let me thank you for your overwhelming support .As I said in my previous message, we have much work to complete. Famous Mason Benjamin Franklin once said, “Masonic labor is purely a labor of love. He who seeks to draw Masonic wages in gold or silver will be disappointed. The wages of a Mason are earned and paid in their dealings with another; sympathy begets sympathy, kindness begets kindness, helpfulness begets helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason.” With this being said, I would like to remind everyone that we are a direct representation of ours, and all, Masonic lodges. I am currently seeking avenues within the community so that people can see our true character. This will include volunteering and being more
active in town-wide activities. I challenge everyone to become more involved with their community to see the way Masons work.

Fraternally Yours,

Jeffrey Rawley, Worshipful Master
